NSW: National Party slams Liberals over preferences = 2

Later, Upper House Liberal MP, John Ryan, said Ms Dickie was wrong to blame the Liberals if
they lost.

"There's no way they would have achieved a 16 per cent drop in the primary vote of the
Labor Party ... without our help," Mr Ryan said.

Mr Ryan said the National Party lost the seat to Labor in a by-election in 1996 without a
Liberal candidate standing.

"If they lose, they lost to Labor, not to the Liberals," he said.
