Fed: Six reportedly stood down from HMAS Arunta
Federal sex discrimination commissioner PRU GOWARD has the backing of acting federalopposition leader JENNY MACKLIN to run an external inquiry into the HMAS Arunta affair.
Ms GOWARD says the investigation should be independent and the Human Rights and EqualOpportunity Commission is an appropriate forum.
Ms MACKLIN is also calling for the findings of the navy's internal inquiry to be released.
Meanwhile, six military personnel have reportedly been stood down from HMAS Aruntaover the misconduct and sexual assault on Christmas Island.
